Mercer
University
is pleased
to
participate
in the
Scholarship
for
Engineering
Education
(SEE)
program for
Georgia
residents
who pursue a
B.S. degree
in
Engineering
at Mercer
University.
Please note
that
students in
Technical
Communications
(TCO) and
Industrial
Management (IDM)
are not
eligible for
the SEE
program
since these
programs do
not lead to
an
engineering
degree. Also
students who
are solely
pursuing a
graduate
degree do
not qualify
for this
scholarship.
The
following
specializations
are eligible
for SEE:
Biomedical,
Computer,
Electrical,
Environmental,
Industrial,
and
Mechanical
The SEE
program
represents a
commitment
by the State
of Georgia
for private
engineering
education,
as well as
the desire
to retain
new
engineering
graduates in
Georgia.
This program
is funded by
the State
and is
administered
by the
Georgia
Student
Finance
Commission.
The award
consists of
$1,750 per
semester of
full-time
undergraduate
study
towards a
B.S. degree
in
Engineering¸
for an
educational
career
maximum of
$17,500.
This award
is
considered a
scholarship,
provided the
school of
Engineering
graduate
works one
year in the
field of
engineering
within the
State of
Georgia for
EACH $3,500
awarded.
If you do
not obtain
an
engineering
degree and a
position in
an
engineering
field in
Georgia
after
graduation,
the SEE
award will
become a
loan with
cash
repayment at
an interest
rate of 1%
above the
Prime Rate,
not to
exceed 10%.
Awards from
this program
are made
through
Mercer
University's
Office of
Student
Financial
Planning,
based on
availability
of funds.
Qualified
students
from Georgia
must have a
minimum
cumulative
grade point
average
(GPA) of 2.5
to be
eligible and
must
maintain
this minimum
SEE
cumulative
GPA at the
end of each
spring
semester for
continued
eligibility.
This is the
same
calculation
used for
HOPE
Scholarship
eligibility.
The
student's
SEE GPA will
treat "+"
grades as
whole grades
(i.e.,
A+,B+,C+
grades will
be counted
as A,B,C,
respectively).
Also, all
grades
received by
the student
will be
included in
SEE
eligibility
calculation,
regardless
of where the
classes are
taken and
whether the
grades are
included in
the
calculation
of the
student's
Mercer GPA.
Actual SEE
awards are
confirmed
only after
the SEE
application
has been
submitted to
and approved
by the
Georgia
Student
Finance
Commission.
The decision
to pursue
any
curricular
program
requires
considerable
commitment
on the
student's
part.
Mercer is
sensitive to
the various
factors
involved in
any early
commitment.
In the event
that an
entering
freshmen
declares
his/her
intent to
change to
another
school
within the
University
prior to the
completion
of the
second
semester,
the
University
will repay
the first
year SEE

$3,500 to
the Georgia
Student
Finance
Commission.
